While this blog aims to be a forum about customer experiences- some people may be at the end of their ropes with those cheery party throwing folks from SoCal known as the Media Temple. If you’re one of those Media Temple Customers who have experienced nothing but frustration with the Grid Server platform and you’re ready to jump ship, here is a collection of other hosting solutions for you to consider.

  1. A company called Web Faction seems to look pretty good. I can’t seem to find any bad reviews about them. Upon Googling “web faction sucks” the first review to come up is a review about how there aren’t any negative reviews about Web Faction.

Their prices and options seem pretty good.

Someone in the comments recommended a company called “AN Hosting”

I’m calling to check both of their tech support and sales staff. Is it American based? Do they seem knowledgeable? Wait times, etc….

  2. For anybody interested in a scalable type solution – check out MOSSO – sure, you’ll pay a little more – but you’ll sleep better at night. And in the event of an outage you’ll be able to chat or speak with support.

I manage reseller accounts on MT and MOSSO and can say with certainty that MOSSO is a vastly superior product.

Truth is, for $20 a month – you really can’t complain about MT. You get what you pay for.

  3. Considering many companies in web hosting are charging $6-$7 a month, and seem to be able to keep the servers up longer, I’d say you can complain about MT.

I moved from Media Temple to Rimu Hosting a few months ago, and so far that’s been pretty good.

  4. @inthewack : I agree, with many companies charging even $5 for fairly reliable hosting – there is room to complain.

However, if you want to host 100 websites on a $20 account and resell the hosting – don’t expect dedicated server performance or good support.

MT is more than fine for many people. When you begin reselling your hosting to your clients it certainly ups the ante.
